Montel Civil Engineering has been engaged by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust as Principal Contractor to undertake the construction of a new 71 space staff car park at Princess of Wales Community Hospital, Bromsgrove (POWCH).
The new car park to the North of Churchview Unit will increase parking capacity for staff which will help ease pressure on the current parking facilities and will improve patient and visitor access and parking on site.
The works will consist of:
When will the work start and when is completion expected?
Montel will take possession of the site on 5th December and the anticipated completion date is Spring 2023.
What are the working hours?
Works will be undertaken between 7.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday with plant being operational from 8am.
Will we still have access to the existing car park?
Yes, staff members, patients and visitors will still have access to the existing main car park for the duration of the works as our programme has been designed to limit disruption. Montel will be maintaining access to Churchview Unit and Newbrook throughout the works and parking restrictions will be enforced down the access road.
Will there be a lot of noise, dust and mud and how will this be avoided?
Whilst our modern fleet of plant is fitted with effective exhaust silencers, it will be operated in such a manner as to minimise noise and carbon emissions. Regular noise monitoring will be undertaken through the day and acoustic barriers will also be used where necessary. There will be some activities where dust is unavoidable and these operations will be strictly controlled and appropriate water-suppression measures put in place prior to commencement. The site team will also ensure the cleanliness of the works locations and access roads to sites. Road sweepers will be available at regular intervals where necessary.
What about deliveries?
We receive our deliveries in bulk in order to reduce our carbon emissions and traffic on the roads leading to POWCH. We also aim to limit deliveries during peak times for the hospital to minimise disruption.
Who do we talk to if we have concerns or questions?
At Montel we have a dedicated Community Relations team to assist local residents with any queries and concerns on all projects we undertake. For this project the point of contact will be Suzanne Wright, who can be contacted at Suzanne.Wright@montel-group.com.
In addition to writing directly to local residents and business to keep them informed on the progress of the works, a dedicated project webpage and our Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook pages will also offer regular updates of the project, including, progress reports, images and information on possible disruption.
