Myton Green Strategic Infrastructure Works

Myton Green Development is situated to the south west of Leamington Spa. The work comprised of the new access off the A452 Europa Way, 800 linear metres of spine road, storm and foul water drainage, new water, gas, electric, BT and Virgin Media services. The main spine road into the site provides a tree lined avenue with grass verge and combined footway / cycleways on both sides of the carriageway. In addition to these vital links to the road network and all the services, a major highlight of the Myton Green Development is the landscaping built into the scheme known as the green corridor. The green corridor is said to be the largest developed public open space in Warwickshire covering an area of just under 100,000m2.

Integrated Delivery Team

From the outset we embedded a culture of collaboration and provided a format to ensure support for the delivery of our short-term operational obligations and the strategic delivery of long-term plans throughout the lifecycle of the project.

One of the main goals we achieved by combining our collaborative approach with our integrated construction approach was design standardisation. This allowed the client’s vision to be met with a product that was constructed systematically and efficiently.

Adopting a Collaborative Strategy

The success of the project was attributed by the development of a sound health and safety culture on the project, with ownership taken by all levels and supported by a proactive health and safety team. This extended to our supply chain who were encouraged to meet the same best practice standards on site.

Strict quality control protocols were established from the start of the project and a high level of proactive interaction from all parties ensured that high standards were being maintained. Quality assurance programmes were in place and were established by a quality control inspection regime.

Encouraging Innovation and Learning

We maintained and reinforced the existing ecological features and wildlife habitat where possible including 475 new trees, 30 bat boxes, 20 bird boxes and 4 hedgehog domes. Approximately 4,500 linear metres of walkways were formed through the green corridor providing links to existing footways creating an easy access to the town centre and local retail parks.
