Integrated Delivery Team

As the scheme was in a live food production facility Montel’s project management team needed to plan and implement robust safe systems of work and logistic plans that were sympathetic to the continuous operation of the factory yet practical enough to facilitate reasonable construction activities. Daily communication and regular meetings with JDE and ADI assisted in the construction of the project with the least amount of disruption to the factory.

Adopting a Collaborative Strategy

There was a significant amount of specialist sub-contractor works related to adjustments to service provisions, including HV re-routing, installation of armoured data services and a 300mmØ HDPE fire main with a number of complex and bespoke FRC valve chambers. Collaborative working with all the sub-contractors and local material supply partners was absolutely critical to the successful safe delivery of the scheme.

Encouraging Innovation and Learning

The client was receptive to early contractor involvement (ECI) which enabled us to offer a series of value engineering (VE) solutions at the design phase. This included high level adjustments to general levels and design to reduce material usage, increase sustainability and expedite the project delivery. It also included specific priced VE solutions such as replacing a box culvert with a twin pipe design and proposing alternative pavement designs.
