Why are the works needed?
The new link road and an associated bridge over Shutterton Brook is part of a scheme for 860 homes near Secmaton Lane contained in Teignbridge District Councils current local plan and is a key step in achieving the goal of linking Elm Grove Road and the A379 Exeter Road.
How long will the work take?
Montel will take possession of the site in August 2023, and we anticipate that construction will be completed in summer 2024.
Will there be a lot more traffic?
Due to the nature of the project there this will mean numerous additional vehicles will be requiring access and egress to our site, this will be undertaken in a controlled manner to reduce the impact on the community. For example, we aim to schedule deliveries outside of peak hours.
How will the traffic be controlled?
The scheme is not located near any main roads, meaning traffic management of the main roads, for example Exeter road/A379 will not be required. Deliveries will only be made via an agreed access routes to minimise disruption to the community.
What days will Montel be working?
Generally, Monday to Friday 7:30am to 6pm, although there may be occasions where we need to work beyond this in order to complete specific activities. No works will be undertaken on Bank Holidays or Sundays.
Will there be a lot of mud, noise and dust?
Montel will be carrying out regular cleaning of the highways leading into the works area to ensure these are kept as clean as possible for the duration of the works. Our machinery has the latest technology in noise suppression, though we still monitor noise levels throughout the day to ensure they are reduced to a minimum and within acceptable levels. Due to the nature of the works dust creation will be at a minimum, but should any activities, or weather create dust, water suppression and barriers will be used to reduce the impact of this on the community and our teams. These control measures, which we undertake on all of our projects, were also included in the approved Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) which formed part of the approved Planning submission.
