The works comprised of highway upgrades to the A452 Europa Way in Leamington Spa. The works included the “Dualling” of approximately 700m of the existing single carriageway, for this to be achieved approximately 20,000m3 of earthworks were required, existing statutory authority apparatus including high and low voltage electricity, BT Openreach, gas and water supplies were diverted in to the 600m of new footway/cycleway, 400m of new carriageway construction, a new 4 way controlled crossing was installed all whilst maintaining 2 way traffic flows on this major thoroughfare into Leamington Spa.
Members of the site team had an existing relationship with members of both the employing authority and the developer, these strong relationships enabled the assisted the whole team to overcome numerous technical issues which resulted in solutions that were acceptable to all parties.
Although the scheme was awarded as a traditional NEC option A Contract, the site team were heavily involved with the Client’s designer to achieve Technical Approval this approach led to limited technical queries throughout the scheme.
During the duration of the project, the site team ensured that best practice and value engineering was implemented wherever possible with the aim to reduce the programme duration and provide best value to the Client.
Our direct delivery teams and sub-contractors were involved within weekly meetings to identify areas in which we could incorporate different methods to produce the works.
